A gang-related shooting outside of an Illinois courthouse on Thursday turned into a “running gun battle” that left two men dead and a third wounded, a report said.
The wild scene unfolded as two brothers and a third man were gunned down as they left the Kankakee County Courthouse after a hearing at about 9:15 a.m., the Chicago-Sun-Times reported, citing police.
Victor Andrade, 26, was killed and the third man was wounded, the report said.
The fatal victim’s sibling, Miguel Andrade, 23, then fetched a gun from his car and allegedly returned fire at his brother’s suspected killer, Antonio Hernandez, 24, according to the Kankakee Police Department.
The two engaged in a “running gun battle” outside of the courthouse that ended with Hernandez dead.
When police showed up, Miguel was allegedly still armed with a gun and standing over Hernandez’s body. He was taken into custody and charges against him are pending.
The siblings and Hernandez are all members of the Latin Kings, Police Chief Robin Passwater said at a press briefing, according to the report.
The unidentified wounded man was not affiliated with the gang, police said.
