Singapore’s soon-to-be introduced vaccine injury assistance programme could pose challenges in terms of defining eligibility criteria, as well as the level of assistance and payouts. The programme will provide financial help to those who suffer severe side effects from COVID-19 vaccination. One health expert said the possibility of inaccurate claims could also be an issue. However, he added that the mechanics of the programme — believed to be the first of its kind in the world — still need to be worked out, but it’s a step in the right direction.
