Rep. Matt Gaetz boasted to fellow Florida pols about women he met through Joel Greenberg, a former tax collector buddy who’s now charged with sex trafficking of a minor, The Washington Post reported Friday night.
The pols told the paper that Gaetz, (R-Fla.) played them videos of naked or topless women on several occasions, including at parties with Greenberg, the ex-tax collector of Seminole County, the paper said.
The new report is just the latest eruption of disturbing, lascivious news concerning Gaetz, who since Tuesday has been linked to a purported orgy and a $25 million extortion plot, as well as being exposed as under federal investigation for allegedly sex-trafficking a girl under the age of 17.
The feds are looking into whether Gaetz and Greenberg sometimes shared sex partners — including one girl under the age of 17 at the time, The Washington Post alleged, citing a person familiar with the investigation.
Gaetz has steadfastly denied any relationship with a minor.
And the women on Gaetz’s phone appeared to be adults, the pols told paper.
But Gaetz’s boasts of Greenberg’s wingman prowess further links the congressman and his disgraced old pal.
It was Greenberg’s prosecution — for allegedly making a fake ID for a minor girl “to facilitate his efforts to engage in commercial sex acts” — that had first put Gaetz on the feds’ radar.
“Matt was never shy about talking about his relationship to Joel and the access to women that Joel provided him,” one anonymous source told The Washington Post.
Another less-than-flattering portrayal of Gaetz and Greenberg’s friendship emerged earlier Friday when texts obtained by the Daily Beast appeared to show the two collaborating in September to get some kind of IDs outside of proper channels, though it’s unstated why.
The videos Gaetz allegedly flashed around to his Florida cronies showed women dancing, hanging out at a pool, and in one instance “using a hula hoop without clothing,” The Washington Post reported.
That account echoes a similar one from Thursday, when CNN also alleged that Gaetz had shown fellow lawmakers nude photos of women he said he’d slept with, including one photographed wearing a hula hoop, and nothing else.
